This month The Lux Golf visited our offices in Palma to interview Ana and Tomeu Ferrá, the 4th generation of our family-owned construction company. They were both delighted to host the golf magazine endorsed by the Tourism Agency of the Balearic Islands (AETIB), which is also a member of the Spanish Luxury Association. Within AETIB’s Product Club, The Lux Golf belongs to the Luxury Set, as the only publication among its members.
Through their answers, the Ferrá siblings offered the readers of The Lux Golf an overview of the origins and evolution of Grupo Ferrá, as well of the main challenges that the company currently faces.
Building our history since 1890
“At the time, the masonry trade was very artisanal and therefore it required a great deal of manpower”, explained the Ferrá siblings when talking about their great-grandfather, Pedro Francisco Ferrá Mir, the founder of the company.
Quality, innovation and diversification in construction
Both Ana and Tomeu Ferrá consider that the company's unwavering commitment to these 3 values is the key to the success achieved by Grupo Ferrá along these 130 years.
They also explain that “we have stayed true to our goal of offering a high-quality service, incorporating new trends and diversifying our activity to meet the needs of our clients […] doubtlessly, this has helped us position ourselves as a leader in luxury residential properties and in the construction and renovation of hotels.”
From master bricklayer to a leading construction company the Balearic Islands
The business that Pedro Francisco Ferrá Mir started by undertaking masonry projects for “families from the nobility” has evolved over the 4 generations of the Ferrá family to become a leader in the construction industry in the Balearic Islands.
Within this context, the Ferrá siblings add that, “nowadays, Grupo Ferrá has 3 business units: Ferrá Tur (the parent company), Baltyc and Protech. Through these three business units we offer services that include the construction of new buildings and the refurbishment and maintenance of all kinds of buildings, as well as occupational health and safety management.
“A great team”
This is how Ana and Tomeu Ferrá define the whole Grupo Ferrá team. Consisting of 70 professionals that can meet any need within the construction industry, the team is structured in 4 divisions.
“A team that, under the leadership of Antoni Gurrera (Managing Director of Ferrá Tur) together with the Family Council, ensures that our basic principles of quality assurance and safety are observed at all times. Concerning the management, my father Pedro Ferrá, my brother Tomeu and myself are the members of the Family Council of Grupo Ferrá. In my case, I’m also a member of the Executive Committee as the Marketing and Communication Director of the company” further explains Ana.
Excellent reception in Ibiza
The opening of our new delegation in Ibiza at the beginning of the year has also aroused the interest of The Lux Golf, who wanted to hear about the management team’s experience:
“We are really grateful for the excellent reception that we have been given by companies and suppliers on the island”, commented Ana and Tomeu.
Future prospects
When we asked them how they envisage the evolution of their activities on the island, Ana and Tomeu Ferrá explained that “we intend to establish stable and long-lasting relationships with local companies and suppliers, with the goal of jointly taking advantage of the opportunities that will surely arise”.
Lastly, they add that “we are currently completing the execution of the 2nd Phase of the Renovation Project of the Siau Ibiza Hotel, a landmark property located at Puerto San Miguel and until recently known as the Hotel San Miguel”.
Grupo Ferrá would like to thank The Lux of Golf for their time and for the interest that they have shown in telling the story of our company through the eyes of its 4th generation.
